Violence struck the Ventura Village neighborhood late Saturday, adding to a deadly week in Minneapolis. Just before midnight, police officers rushed to the intersection of Chicago Avenue and East Franklin Avenue after reports of gunfire shattered the night. A man suffering from a critical gunshot wound was quickly transported to Hennepin Healthcare, but tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot before seeing the victim collapse on the street. Investigators believe an altercation preceded the shooting, and the suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot immediately after firing the fatal shot.

Deadly Week In Minneapolis As Police Search For Suspects

This latest homicide marks a grim milestone as the third fatal shooting in Minneapolis within a single week. The violence began on Monday with a mass shooting near the Lake Street transit station that injured five men, one of whom later died. That same night, another mass shooting at a homeless encampment left seven injured, with a thirty-year-old woman later passing away from her wounds. As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests have been made in connection with Saturday night’s killing. Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated that detectives are actively working to track down the suspect, but the community remains on high alert as the wave of gun violence continues to claim lives across the city.
