The wave of violence gripping Minneapolis intensified overnight with two additional fatal shootings occurring just hours after Tuesday afternoon’s tragic mass attack. The first new incident took place around eight in the evening on the twenty-seven hundred block of Third Avenue South, less than a mile from the earlier crime scene. Police report that a man in his twenties was rushed to Hennepin Healthcare but tragically died from his injuries. A second man, also in his twenties, arrived at a hospital separately with survivable wounds. The bloodshed continued into the early morning hours when a shooter approached a group downtown near Eighth Street and Hennepin Avenue at two in the morning, killing one man and wounding another.
Police Search For Answers As Community Remains On Edge
Law enforcement officials are working tirelessly to determine if these fresh outbreaks of violence are connected to the earlier mass shooting at Clinton Avenue and East Twenty-Ninth Street. Police Chief Brian O’Hara described the rapid succession of shootings across the city as deeply unsettling for the community. As of now, investigators have not made any arrests in these new cases and are actively searching for suspects. While the investigation expands to cover these separate crime scenes, there is a small glimmer of relief regarding Tuesday afternoon’s victims. Authorities confirmed that the six people injured in the initial daylight attack are all expected to survive, despite three suffering from critical injuries.
