Austin has a new destination for thrill seekers, families and motorsports fans. COTALAND officially opened at Circuit of The Americas on September 26, bringing a 30-acre theme park filled with roller coasters, family rides, dining and entertainment to the sprawling motorsports complex. Its lineup includes some distinctly unusual attractions, including Circuit Breaker, a tilt coaster that can place riders in a near-vertical position, Palindrome, which sends riders forward and backward, and the 230-foot Down Force. The opening weekend also drew attention when Circuit Breaker stopped twice with riders aboard, highlighting just how closely the park’s biggest attractions are being watched as the new venue gets up and running.
A New Theme Park Has Opened In Austin

Austin has added a major new destination for rides and entertainment with the opening of COTALAND at Circuit of The Americas. The park welcomed its first guests during its grand opening weekend beginning September 26, 2026, after months of construction, ride testing and preparation. COTALAND occupies about 30 acres and combines roller coasters, family rides, games, dining and other attractions with the motorsports setting of COTA. The park’s lineup includes major thrill rides such as Circuit Breaker, Palindrome and Down Force, alongside attractions designed for younger and more casual riders. COTA’s existing identity as a major motorsports venue also carries into the new park, giving COTALAND a setting that is closely tied to speed and racing.
Circuit Breaker Puts A Different Spin On The Coaster

The ride that immediately stands apart is Circuit Breaker, a tilt coaster that changes the way riders approach a drop. COTALAND describes it as a Texas-only tilt coaster, making the unusual tilting mechanism one of the attraction’s defining features. Rather than simply climbing and descending a conventional track, the coaster’s vehicle can move into a vertical tilt position as part of the ride experience. That feature became especially noticeable during opening weekend when the coaster stopped unexpectedly with riders aboard. The first incident involved 19 people, with the vehicle remaining in its vertical position for approximately nine minutes before returning to horizontal. COTALAND said nobody was injured and no medical treatment was required.
Palindrome Adds A Forward-And-Backward Ride

COTALAND’s coaster lineup goes beyond the tilt mechanism. Palindrome is an Infinity Shuttle Coaster that sends riders through the course and back, creating a ride experience built around forward and reverse movement. COTALAND lists Palindrome alongside Circuit Breaker and Down Force as one of its major high-energy attractions. The park also highlights Palindrome’s distinctive position over an active roadway, another feature that separates it from a conventional coaster installation. The attraction fits into COTALAND’s broader goal of combining several types of high-thrill experiences rather than relying on one signature ride. Visitors can move from major coasters to family attractions and other activities across the 30-acre park.
Down Force Brings The Height

For riders who prefer a towering attraction, Down Force provides another major option. COTALAND says the ride reaches 230 feet and can reach speeds of up to 70 mph, putting it among the park’s most substantial thrill attractions. It is part of a lineup that also includes Circuit Breaker and Palindrome, giving COTALAND several different approaches to high-speed rides. The park is not built exclusively around extreme attractions, though. Its broader collection includes family rides and experiences such as Soggy Logger, Safari Adventure, Cloud Flyer, Victory Wheel and others. That mix means the 230-foot Down Force is one component of a much larger attraction lineup rather than the sole focus of the new Austin park.
COTA Turns The Park Into A Motorsports Destination

COTALAND has an unusual neighbor because it sits directly at Circuit of The Americas, the Austin venue known for major motorsports events. COTA has hosted Formula 1, MotoGP and NASCAR, and the new park extends the property’s entertainment offerings beyond race weekends. The connection is more than just a theme. COTALAND’s concept was developed around combining the energy of motorsports with amusement-park attractions, giving visitors another way to experience the sprawling COTA property. The facility itself sits on roughly 1,500 acres, while COTALAND occupies about 30 acres within the larger destination. The result is a theme park whose identity is closely connected to the racing culture already established at COTA.
Circuit Breaker’s Opening Weekend Stops Drew Attention

The park’s debut also came with an unexpected moment when Circuit Breaker stopped twice during its first weekend. According to KSAT, the first stop occurred Saturday with 19 riders aboard. The coaster vehicle stopped while tilted vertically, leaving the riders secured for roughly nine minutes before it returned to a horizontal position. A second stop happened Sunday and lasted about two minutes, after which riders exited normally. No injuries or medical treatment were reported from either incident. COTALAND said the ride uses multiple sensors and safety systems that continuously monitor operating conditions and can automatically stop the attraction when a required condition is not satisfied. The park described these systems as part of the operation of sophisticated amusement rides, with attendants following established procedures when an operational stop occurs.
